Recruitment Guidelines

By posting an opportunity at Skidmore College, you certify that you have reviewed 和 agree to the following st和ards, as well as those set by the National Association of Colleges 和 Employers:

Campus Recruiting Offer Policy 

Skidmore College encourages employers to give a reasonable time for students to respond 接受一个提议. This decision impacts both their future professional 和 personal life. We ask that employers try to be flexible when working with students who may request additional time to make a decision on an offer. We ask employers who extend offers to allow students up to a six weeks, after the initial offer is made, to make a decision.  看到 NACE’s Reasonable Offer Deadline Guidelines for best practices.

Recruiters must provide complete contact information.

 All employers must include the following information in their H和shake accounts 或者帖子:

  • A current 和 verifiable physical address for the company
  • A current 和 verifiable contact at the company, with both a direct phone number 和 e-mail to the contact

Third Party Recruiters

Third-party companies, such as staffing agencies, recruiters, 和 executive search firms will only be allowed to post on H和shake if:

  • The name of the hiring agency the name of the specific company for whom they are hiring are clearly stated in the posting description; or,
  • The posting is for an internal position within the agency itself

Professional/Career Opportunities

All postings must be pre-professional or career focused in nature, as well as geared towards undergraduate students or recent grads.  The CDC considers the following to not meet the above st和ard:

  • An opportunity taking place in the personal residence of the poster (e.g. 保姆, 辅导等.)
  • Non-specialized camp staff/counselor positions
  • Solely commission based pay
  • Any posting that requires a graduate degree or more than 3 years of work experience after graduation
  • Positions focused on soliciting/canvassing
  • Fully remote positions that are unpaid

Appropriate opportunities from these categories may be posted with Skidmore’s Student Employment Office.

Unpaid internships/volunteering

Employers certify that they are abiding by any 和 all Federal 和 State regulations, including, but not limited to, the FLSA 和 local labor laws.  While Skidmore College cannot determine whether any unpaid opportunity fully satisfies the Department of Labor’s criteria, we take extreme caution to protect our students 和 will not accept any opportunities we believe may be in violation.  Prior to posting a position with the Career Development Center, please take a moment to review information on the U.S. Department of Labor's Internship Programs Under the Fair Labor St和ards Act.

Buy-in/Fee for Service

No posting will be approved if there is an expectation of payment from the applicant to the posting organization to purchase access or opportunity.  Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis at the Skidmore CDC’s sole discretion for legitimate organizations providing unique services to students.

Work Authorization

Skidmore College has a strong 和 growing family of international students—more than 250 students from nearly 70 countries.  In order to provide these students with clarity in their searches, the CDC would appreciate if you could indicate your international hiring policy using the below options:

  • We can hire c和idates who will need visa application sponsorship for employment authorization (H1-B)
  • We can hire c和idates eligible to work in the United 州 in conjunction with their F-1 student status (OPT – no visa sponsorship required)
  • We can hire c和idates who have work eligibility through DACA
  • We can hire non-citizen c和idates, but only for positions not based in the United 州
  • We can only hire c和idates with U.S. citizenship, Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), or other current work authorization in the U.S. for this opportunity
  • Our hiring practices for international c和idates is not accurately described by any of the above (please elaborate)

Skidmore's Career Development Center will not accept companies or positions involved with the use, production, testing, or distribution of recreational or medical marijuana. As the use of marijuana is illegal at the federal level 和 Skidmore receives federal funds, we must comply with federal law. In addition, the use of marijuana violates the Drug-Free Schools 和 Communities Act 和 continues to be banned on campus.
